I just watched the movie El Laberinto Del Fauno (Pan’s Labyrinth), by fantasy film master Guillermo Del Toro. What a wonderful movie! It is a dramatic and at times gruesome fairytale set in the aftermath of the Spanish Civil War, with stunning visuals and a gripping story. One of the best films of this year, which sadly won’t get enough worldwide attention due to it being recorded in spanish.
Erm, to be honest, It was probably the worst movie I’ve seen this year. If I want to see a gore movie I will go to watch a movie like that. There is the good way (hard candy), and the wannabe-look-at-me-please-I-want-a-bit-of-attention way (El laberinto del fauno). There were a lot of unnecessary things on the movie and I wanted to leave the cinema a lot of times. A shame I was with friends… There are ways and ways of doing disgusting ways.
Sorry for leaving such a bad comment on your site, but I was very disapointed when I went to see the movie and as nobody saw it or commented it yet, here are my thoughts 😛

I’ve heard great things about Hard Candy, and it’s definitely on my list. I also realize that I have a certain affinity with Del Toro’s aesthetics; I loved Cronos, and enjoyed Mimic and even Blade 2 a lot.
In any case, if you thought this was disgusting, you probably can’t watch half of my DVD library. 🙂
Hard Candy? that movie left me a bad feeling, I almost fainted 😀
I think it’s one the best spanish films I have seen. It’s not like other spanish movies as the civil war is only an historic background and not the main thread. The actors perform damm good too.
